BetterJet (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates betterjet.co.nz, a platform that aggregates empty leg charter flights from New Zealand operators. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
Information we collect
We collect the following information depending on how you interact with our platform:
- Flight alert subscriptions: your email address and selected hub airports when you sign up for alerts.
- Flight enquiries: your name, email address, phone number, and any message you include when submitting a request for a flight.
- Account registration: your email address when creating an account.
- Booking payments: payment details are handled directly by Stripe — we never see or store your card information.
- Usage data: standard server logs including IP addresses and browser information, retained briefly for security and debugging purposes.
How we use your information
- To send you email alerts when new empty legs matching your selected hubs are listed.
- To forward your flight enquiry to the relevant charter operator so they can follow up with you directly.
- To process booking payments and send billing-related communications via Stripe.
- To improve our platform and diagnose technical issues.
We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Sharing your information
Your information may be shared in the following limited circumstances:
- Charter operators: when you submit a flight enquiry, your contact details and message are forwarded to the relevant operator to facilitate a response.
- Service providers: we use Supabase (database), Resend (email delivery), and Stripe (payments). Each operates under their own privacy policies and processes data only as necessary to provide their services.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of BetterJet or others.
Data retention
Flight alert subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe. Flight enquiry records are retained for a reasonable period for record-keeping purposes. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
Your rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of any inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your information (subject to any legal obligations).
- Unsubscribe from email alerts at any time using the link in any alert email.
Cookies
We use minimal cookies necessary for authentication and session management. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
